Since writing the summary below there have been two more hurricanes and two earthquakes in Mexico.  I am adding the link to Rotary International disaster relief page.  There are numerous ways to help.  You can donate to Rotary International or just do a search for local Rotary Districts or clubs in affected areas to donate or volunteer.

Rotary helps disaster victims

--------------------------------------------

I wanted to summarize all the information about helping the victims of Hurricane Harvey though Rotary contacts.

Thanks to Rotary International Director Greg Yank (Heart of America Zone 30/31) for getting an email out early on how we could help and for forwarding Hugh Summers email with Zone 21b and Zone 27 contact information.

Thanks to our friends District 6200 Governor Martha Collins and husband PDG Mike for stepping up and providing way to make donations to their District Foundation.

Special thanks to District 6190 Governor Paula Weaver Gates for being the eyes and ears on Facebook with updates for those of us far away from Texas and Louisiana.   I bet we knew in Indiana that the Cajun Navy was heading to Texas before Texas knew.

Below are the Districts and their contacts.  You can visit the websites also for donating and other information.

District 6200  DG Martha Collins and District 6200 Foundation Chair PDG Mike Collins have agreed to help Rotarians and likeminded benefactors with their donations toward hurricane victims. Mike and Martha are in the process of assembling a representative advisory board to determine use of funds. This board, to include Directors and representatives from Texas and Louisiana, will ensure that funds will be used in credible ways to assist those in the disaster areas including Texas and Louisiana. The proven method of disbursement of the funds used successfully following Hurricane Katrina will be employed by this board as well. The administrative costs will be minimal.

Make checks payable to The Rotary District 6200 Foundation with Hurricane Harvey Relief in the memo line. Please designate if you want these funds just for Texas, just for Louisiana or “all affected area.”
